Beyond the Fields of Landscape Art

"Facing West" approximately 48” x 94” acrylic on unstretched canvas

When I paint, it's not about replicating exactly what I see, but about capturing the intensity and emotion that the landscape evokes in me. "Facing West" is a reflection of the farm fields that surround my home. It's not a literal depiction but rather a translation of the energy and essence of the land. With a palette knife, I work in an expressive style, where each stroke carries the weight of the place and the moment. The colors and forms come together to create a scene that feels alive, almost pulsing with the same rhythm I sense in the fields. It's less about what the fields look like and more about how they make me feel. The act of painting becomes a way to create a new reality—one that resonates with the same intensity as the world around me. This is what drives me to paint, to bring forth something that isn’t just seen, but felt.
