Rewilding Tidepools: A Reflection on Art and Nature
Waves of Inspiration: My Tidepool Story
“Rewilding Tidepools is 5” x 8” acrylic on unstretched canvas.
Have you ever stood at the edge of a tidepool and wondered what stories it could tell? That moment of curiosity inspired my painting, "Rewilding Tidepools". Using thick, textured paint, I wanted to capture the unpredictable energy of the ocean and its resilience. But more than that, this piece reflects how we are connected to the environment around us.
The Essence of Rewilding

Rewilding isn’t just about nature taking back space; it’s about life finding a way to thrive. I used a palette knife to spread blues, greens, and grays across the canvas, mimicking the churn of seawater. The cracks and layers of paint resemble tidepools full of life. There are barnacles clinging to rocks, seaweed swaying, and small fish darting by.
Art as a Call to Action
This isn’t just a seascape. It’s a reminder. Just like tidepools, our ecosystems need balance. Creating this piece was my way of rewilding, of embracing the chaos of paint, trusting the process, and finding beauty in the unexpected. Art has a way of pulling us in. It encourageds us to pay attention and reflect on our role in the world.
Art and Responsibility
Artists don’t just creat. They reflect the world around them. We face a future where environmental challenges grow every day. Through "Rewilding Tidepools", I want to remind viewers that what we do matters. Every wave that crashes and recedes is a reminder of our connection to the planet. When we see the beauty in nature, we’re reminded why it’s worth protecting.
Closing Thoughts
This painting is more than a view of the ocean. It’s an invitation. Notice the details, the textures, the movement. Then ask yourself, “what role do I play in the world’s story? “ Art is a conversation, and every brushstroke is a chance to say something meaningful.
